Pastor's Note

Blessings flow down...

How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity. It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron's beard, down upon the collar of his robes. ... more.

A Study in the Book of Acts

Not many of us who were in the Bay Area on October 17, 1989 at 5:04 PM will forget the Loma Prieta quake registering 7.0 on the Richter scale. The ground cracked, walls buckled, the earth rumbled, and EVERYTHING shook! It was impossible to miss!

Acts 19:23 says, "About that time there occurred no small disturbance concerning the Way."  That's the way the Gospel is supposed to be... disturbing! When Jesus Christ invades our lives, He often turns us upside down and inside out! The things that used to be important to us no longer hold any interest. Activities get interrupted (like game #3 of the World Series), values get re-aligned (like all the people who took time to hug their kids that night), and habits get changed (like the people who slept outside for a few days during the aftershocks). Unfortunately, some folks hear the Gospel, even go to church, and it doesn't make any difference in their lives. Nothing changes and they carry on just like before.

Unlike an earthquake that brings pain, disorder, and even death, when Christ "shakes" us, He's breaking chains of sin, turning on the light of truth, and freeing us from the grip of the world, the flesh, and the devil. As He does that, it "stirs" us up to reach out to those around us!

Join us each Sunday as we work our way through the final chapters of the books of Acts. Our traditional worship service is at 9:00 and our contemporary worship is at 10:45, with discipleship elective classes and community groups at both hours.
