March 31, 2002 - Easter

A Living Savior for a Dying World

Glen Miller, Valley Church, will be speaking - the topic, "Never Forget", from Luke 24:13-39.

March 31 is also Easter Sunday, a family worship day! In order for our families to worship together as we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord, Sunday School and Children's Church classes will be cancelled for grades K-6. Child care will be provided for ages 8 weeks to five years.

Rumor has it that donuts will be provided between services.

Glen's email of the week:

Friends,

I hope that you will take some time this week to  meditate on the passion of our Lord!  There is an old song that says, "When Jesus was on the cross, you were on His mind."  Do you know that He is thinking about you right now?  If He thought about you when you were His enemy, how much more now that you are His friend.  Unfortunately many of us spend too much time thinking about ourselves.  Simon Weil, who was only 34 years when he died, said, "It is not my business to think about myself.  My business is to think about God.  It is for God to think about me."  A.W. Tozer said that, "Self is the opaque veil that hides the face of God from us."  Paul said, "The mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace."  The psalmist says, "Mine eyes are ever toward the Lord, for He shall pluck my feet out of the net."  Maybe you need a spiritual breakthrough this Easter.  Here is some sound biblical advice that can precipitate change:

  • Set the Lord continually before you!               Psalm 16:8
  • Behold His beauty!                                        Psalm 27:4
  • Fix your eyes on Jesus!                                  Heb. 12:2
  • Lift up your eyes to your Helper!                   Psalm 121:1
  • Think about His love!                                    Jer. 31:3
  • Meditate on His mercies!                              Lam. 3:22
  • Survey the wondrous cross!                          1 Peter 1:19
  • Ponder your union with Him!                         Gal. 2:20
  • Enjoy the Savior!                                           Phil. 1:21
Will you make it your business to think about the Lord this Easter season?  You certainly don't need to think about tomorrow.  Tomorrow will have enough problems of it's own.  Look to Jesus today and you will discover that His grace is enough for today's problems.  Our loving God will not give you more than you can handle today.  If you have your doubts, read 1 Cor. 10:13!  He will not only provide a way of escape - He is the way of escape!

Please join us this Friday night for our Good Friday Service at 7:00 p.m. and invite a friend to one of our Easter services!  It will be a day they will "Never Forget!"  Now you know my title!

Because He lives and reigns,
Glen
