April 21, 2002 - Majesty, from Ephesians 3:10-13, and the Valley Annual Meeting

As part of our services, plan on hearing from Pastor Glen Miller and the chairman of the board of elders as an update on the vision and direction of Valley Church.

Members should be prepared for the confirmation vote on two candidates for the Valley Church Board of Elders, Kurt Jones and Jon Drake.

Glen's email of the week:

Dear Expectant ones,

I can't wait to see ________!  What is it?  Who is it?  When we lived overseas as missionaries I traveled about 1/3 of the time.  Sometimes it was for month and I couldn't wait to see Patty, Kelley and Glen.  You know the feeling.  Being separated from those we love produces a longing and desire that is unrivaled.  Presently, we are physically separated from the One who should be the object of our affection.  But one day we will see Him face to face.  Ever wonder what the first word out of your mouth will be?  Probably we will be speechless.  However, some of us who think even while we are speaking will blurt out something.  The word that comes to my mind is majestic.  I think it should be reserved for God alone!  Because this is how Webster defines it:

  • The greatness and dignity of a sovereign!
  • The sovereignty and power of God!
  • Supreme authority or power!
  • Royal dignity!
  • Stately splendor or magnificence!
Do you see why I think "majestic" should be reserved for God alone!  Peter says, "but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty.  For when He received honor and glory from the Father, such an utterance as this was made to Him by the Majestic glory, this is My beloved Son with whom I am well pleased."  They saw His majesty and and heard from the Majestic glory.  Amazing!  But do you know what is even more amazing?  That the One who alone is Majestic would come to actual make His abode in those who believe on His name.  But it's true - "Christ in you the hope of glory!"  He is the only hope you've got and the only hope you need!  You already have all you need pertaining to life and godliness.  Please, don't ask Him for what  you already have.  Just believe in and glory it it!

Guess you know by now my title for this Sunday?  We will be examining Ephesians 3:10-13.  We will also be hearing from the elders and vote on two new elders.  I trust that this week you have been reminded from last weeks message that God is for you, with you and in you.  Enjoy His presence!

Anticipating seeing the Savior,
Glen
