May 5, 2002 - Is the Sky the Limit?

Message by Glen Miller from Ephesians 3:20-21 in the series: Discovering Your Destiny! (The Majesty and Mystery of God's Will)

Glen's email of the week:

Dearly beloved,

Have you ever had someone say to you, "The sky is the limit?"  The idea being that the possibilities and potential is unbelievable.  This Sunday we will be examining Ephesians 3:20-21.

“Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever.  Amen.  Eph. 3:20-21

At first glance it appears that, "The sky could be the limit" as it relates to our asking.  Personally, I think poor biblical interpretation is the reason many Christians are disappointed when it comes to prayer.  Last Sunday I suggested four things we should consistently pray for from Ephesians 3:14-19.

Lord, keep me at a point of need – humility!
Lord, I need Your strength and power – dependability!
Lord, make Yourself at home in my heart – vulnerability!
Lord, allow me to comprehend and experience Your love – intimacy!

You can be confident that God will hear and answer these requests because they are in line with God's will for your life.  Remember, that these all deal with the inner man and that is where He does His greatest work.  Our Father desires that we "grow up" in regards to our petitions.  Is the sky the limit, or are there things that limit God?   If you have time on your hands (which you probably don't) I would suggest you meditate on Psalm 78 and I am confident that you will make some very interesting discoveries regarding, "limiting God."  I hope to reveal two crucial one's this Sunday.  Have a blessed and fruitful week.

Because God is able,
Glen

P.S.  We will be having a memorial service for Grace Tuttle on Saturday May 11th at 1:00 p.m. here at Valley.
