Dearest friends,
How can I say thanks for all of you who prayed while I
was in Zimbabwe. The last message I preached before leaving was from
Ephesians 3:20-21. "Now to Him who is able to do exceeding
abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to
the power that works with us, to Him to the glory in the
church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen."
To God be the glory! I was able to see Him
do exceeding abundantly, beyond what I could ever ask, think or
imagine. Lord willing I will be sharing from Eph. 4:25-28 this Sunday
and the last part of verse 28 says, "that he may have something to
share with him who has need." There are so many needs, so
many adversaries but so many opportunities to be the eyes, ears, hands
and feet of Jesus to thousands of children who are without hope and without
family. This Sunday is "Father's Day" but their are
millions around the world without fathers and mothers, but we are His
Church with His authority. We can make a difference
and bring hope, help, healing and the love of Jesus to those He loves!
I am enclosing an email that perhaps some of you would like to read.
The email is from Keith and Kathy - two of our dear friends. We are
supporting two major projects that they run. Have a blessed week
and I will anticipate seeing you Sunday!
Because of Jesus and His love,
Glen
Dear everyone,
Thanx so much for your continued prayers. How valuable they are as we continue
in this spiritual battlefield!!! We really do see the reality of God's kingdom
breaking through with it's light into the dark kingdom of satan's. There really
is so much darkness here, but we praise God that He has already won the victory
and He is in control, raising up a pure and holy bride to penetrate this
darkness!!!! Through all these problems in Zim, He really is doing
this. People's faith is being tested and refined.
Just to keep you updated, here's our latest developments:
We were so amazed at God's faithfulness and provision in answering our prayers for the medication for Tapiwa, and for Keith's vehicle repairs. It really has been amazing, and very encouraging! We thank God.
- WE have continued to follow up with Tapiwa's medical intervention, and
unfortunately there have been factors slowing down things; the family were not
well-involved so the doctor was (rightly) anxious to have their full support as
the antiretro viral drugs have to be strictly adhered to . And then in the
meantime, Tapiwa has been diagnosed with Tuberculosis!! So we have to wait for
him to complete two months worth of medication for that before we can start
with anti-retro virals!! Nothing's ever simple in Africa!!! Tapiwa's actually
been admitted to hospital for two weeks because of the TB. He was told last
Friday that he had AIDs, as we felt it important to speak the truth, and not be
concealing things etc. He was very upset, as he has had a lot of rejection and
alienation from kids saying he has AIDS. So please pray for him; that the truth
will set him free as God promises.
- WE've also got another little boy called Anthony who is 8 years
old, who has been very sick, and now been diagnosed with AIDS. He looks about 6
years old, and is still attending Grade 1 (the first year in school) as his
sickness has lead to poor attendance. His grandmother (Gogo Kauswa) looks after
him as both his parents are dead. Gogo had 11 children herself, 7 of whom have
died. And she is now left with 4 families of orphans to look after (10
children). She is old and has no form of income!!!! It's shocking. It's also
amazing how there are thousands and thousands of other families like this! And
they don't have any help from anyone, no government help, no medical help
usually coz it's too expensive - they're so alone. Through intervening with
Anthony and his investigations, the doors have also been opened for Gogo to
have bereavement counselling for all her pain as well. And Anthony has improved
slightly in health and so has returned to school for the meantime. So although
it seems hopeless, it is great to see God intervening in this family's life.
- This whole health area is becoming very dominant in our work, and involves
a huge amount of time (as each time one attends the hospital it involves the
whole day!!) so we are praying for God to raise a health worker, specifically
for this.
- Another big development, is that God has opened the doors and is
continuing to for us to start up an " orphanage "!!! The land and the
building have been made possible - the biggest prayer is that God opens the
door for us to get permission from Social Welfare. this is an extremely big
hurdle in the country at this time (despite the desperate need). WE know people
who've been waiting for 3 years and this is typical. BUT our God is bigger than
all of this and has His sovereign hand on everything, so we trust that He will
make a way!!! There are so many abandoned babies in ZIM now, and parents dying
leaving babies. WE will go into the details of our plans later, but basically
we plan to have a babies unit, and then small homes where about 8 children
would live with a house mother and aunt (avoiding the original orphanage
concept, and building small family units). Please would you join with us in
praying for God's leading and intervention in this, especially with Social
WElfare.
Lots of love to everyone, and keep in touch. Those in England, we're looking
forward to seeing you soon!
love Keith and Kathy
