July 14, 2002 - Imitating the Son - Walking in the Spirit

Message by Kurt Jones from Ephesians 5:15-5:21 in the series: Discovering Your Destiny! (The Majesty and Mystery of God's Will)

Glen's email of the week:

Dearly beloved,

Do you carry a water bottle with you?  Honestly, it is a fairly recent phenomenon.  When I was in school we all used the water fountain and it still serves me well.  Today, I see people sitting, standing, walking, running, biking and driving with water bottles in their hands.  I see people filling up their shopping carts with water.  There are water trucks on our roads.   Water slides on the east side of San Jose.  Swimming pools filled with water in backyards.  Water purifying systems under sinks.  What would we do without water?  Dying would rank right up there!  I ought to know because I almost died from dehydration on a basketball ministry trip to the Philippines.  (Just stepped away from my computer to get a drink)   I know you must be taking in plenty of liquids during this current hot spell, but are you drinking from the right cistern?  This Sunday we will examine several imperatives from Ephesian 5 but focus on being filled with the Spirit!

"So watch your step.  Use your head. Make the most of every chance you get.  These are desperate times.  Don't live carelessly, unthinkingly.  Make sure you understand what the Master wants.  Don't drink too much wine.  That cheapens your life.  Drink the Spirit of God, huge draughts of Him.  Sing hymns instead of drinking songs!  Sing songs from your heart to Christ.  Sing praises over everything, any excuse for a song to God the Father in the name of our Master, Jesus Christ.  Out of respect for Christ, be courteously reverent to one another."  Ephesians 5:15-21

Looking forward to seeing you Sunday.  Join us for our game night this Friday - maybe we will run through the sprinklers?

Because Jesus quenches our thirst,
Glen
