God's Faithfulness to the Fallen

1. Christ is available! Heb. 4:15-16
Access to the throne of mercy
Access to the throne of grace
- He is available to the poor Matt. 5:3
- He is available to mourners Matt. 5:4
- He is available to the humble Matt. 5:5
- He is available to the hungry Matt. 5:6
- He is available to the thirsty Matt. 5:6
"Prayer is the attitude of surrendering ourselves to the will of a loving God and to be vessels of His good purposes."
2. Christ is always interceding! Heb. 7:25; Luke 22:31-32
Jesus knew in advance what Peter was about to do!
- His response to Peter's fall was to pray for him!
- He did not pray for Peter to be removed from the temptation!
- He knew that Peter would return!
- His purpose was not to destroy Peter but prepare him!
3. Christ is forever saving! Heb. 7:25; Luke 22:31-32
Why does God allow His people to fail and fall in sin?
- To show us our sin and weakness James 3:2
- To strip away our self confidence 1 Cor. 1:29
- To purge us from pride Dan. 4:37
- To teach us to trust Him alone 2 Cor. 1:9
- To help us sympathize with others 2 Cor. 1:4
- To prepare us for ministry John 21:15-17
4. Christ is constantly teaching! Luke 22:31-32
- The value of humility! 1 Peter 1:5
- The magnificence of God's grace!
- The need for patience with one another!
5. Christ is perpetually modeling! Luke 22:31-32
- Jesus never criticized Peter
- Jesus never gave up on Peter
- Jesus forgave Peter and healed him
- Jesus had more faith in Peter than Peter had in himself
6. Life lessons from our brokenness!
- None of us are beyond temptation and falling! Ps. 37:24
- God's grace is available to the fallen! Ps. 32; Ps. 51
- The need for forgiveness with each other! Eph. 5:32
