Bill Carpenter

Family and Background:

My parents were active members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) when I was born in 1923. Our successful navigation of the Depression Years through World War II and beyond were led by our faith in God and the Holy Spirit. In my own family, we have continued to serve God and His Church in Worship and Stewardship functions. Our own three children have furnished us with five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Ministry role at Valley:

I came out of retirement to lead Valley Church's "Joyful Sounds" choir.

Current occupation and interest:

To regain my personal health long enough to continue travel in the Western States and Canada.

Testimony:

I firmly believe that my life has been directed by the Holy Spirit of God from early youth to the present. Included are thousands of miles on land, sea and air with only minor glitches, in near-perfect health; life-shaking personal and professional decisions have been guided by this same Spirit, leading to and guiding a career of twenty-nine years in teaching basic language skills to disadvantaged children in elementary schools, as well as Adult Education in the AARP Safe Driving Program.
