Valley Church's High School Ministry
bloom-
creating a culture of loving community and discipleship
Our Name… “bloom”
Our high school ministry is referred to as “bloom” because we feel this word metaphorically describes God’s vision for high school students. In the same way that a flower waits for the right time to show all that it was created to be, so we believe now is the time for students to go and show others what it really looks to follow God with their lives. In a word we want our students to bloom…
Our Vision… “creating a culture of loving community and discipleship”
The mission statement of Valley Church is…
“Making disciples who know God, who are becoming like Jesus and are working to make Him known in the Silicon Valley and beyond”
In light of this mission for our church, the High School ministry’s vision is to provide a place where students can be loved unconditionally and where they can be equipped to love Jesus with every aspect of their being and love others the way He would. In short, our vision is…
“Creating a culture of loving community and discipleship”
Our Style…
- Thursday evening gathering…
This is a weekly gathering point for leaders and students to deepen relationships, have fun, enjoy food, build community, and be challenged by Jesus’ revolutionary teachings. This gathering point is a great starting place for friends and those new to the High School Ministry. We meet from 7:00-9:00pm in the Student Center at Valley Church. NOTE: Late August and early September, we meet at a home Wednesday night instead.
- Sunday morning gathering…
We meet Sunday mornings at 9am in the Student Center for a time of hanging out, worship, teaching, and small groups intended to grow us in the ways and lifestyle of Jesus.
Tentative Format:
- 1st and 3rd Sundays—Large Group Meeting
- 2nd and 4th Sundays—Large Group Meeting, then split into age and gender based small groups.
- Monthly service/community building activities…
These are activities that are built around service (like City Team) and community building activities (like Malibu Grand Prix night).
- Accountability/Missional Growth Groups…
These are group gatherings intended to grow and challenge students to develop more of a missional heart for the world and serve as a means for accountability. Groups are gender based and meet at varying times during the week.
