Being an Incarnational Witness to the World
Valley Church’s Vision Statement: “For the world to authentically EXPERIENCE the love of Jesus as missional disciples from Valley Church passionately EXPRESS the love of Jesus to people in Silicon Valley and beyond.”
At the heart of this vision statement is the role of the people of Valley Church. We have been sent by Jesus to make an impact for him on this world, both locally and globally.
It is our goal to organize around outward, Spirit-led opportunities and activities. Some of these will be staffed by church leadership and others will happen at a “grassroots” level as the God’s people listen and obey His voice. We do this through Local Mission and Global Outreach.
Macro (larger scale) Expressions of local mission include church-wide events like the Easter Egg Hunt and the Family Fun Fest, serving to:
- make a positive impact on the local community
- model the missional approach to life
Micro (smaller scale) Expressions include:
- Equipping classes to help people listen to and obey the Holy Spirit, developing a heart for people who don’t know Jesus.
- Community Groups participating in church-wide “large scale” events and/or developing their own unique missional cause together as a group.
- Missional Groups that develop
as a result of a specific missional
cause. These are communities
that are formed by a group of
people rallied around a certain
outward/missional cause at the
outset.
Examples:
- Tennis/Sports Ministry
- International Students (ISF)
- Valley Music Academy (VMA)

Global incarnational witness, often called “missions”, focuses on communities beyond the immediate reach of the Valley Church family. These are communities that are economically, culturally, linguistically, or geographically different from those attending Valley Church. Elements:
- INSPIRE - Understanding the heart of God for the whole world and becoming missional disciples to reach the whole world for Christ. This includes educating, enabling, and inspiring people to the Great Commission.
- CONNECT - Developing caring relationships with people and ministries supported by Valley Church in Global Outreach.
- SEND - Strategically sending and supporting ministers and ministries to reach across social, economic, linguistic, and geographical boundaries with the Gospel.
